Training Symposium Headliner: Irish Olympian Joseph Murphy
The Area II Annual meeting attendees will be treated to a special talk by Joseph Murphy as he teaches a jumping clinic at Kealani Farm on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 1, 2018. Joseph will give us some remarks and then will teach a clinic session with riders as we observe. He is an insightful, horse-oriented instructor with a great way of communicating with all levels of riders. His first clinic in November filled immediately and there is now a waiting list for the December clinic, so we are indeed fortunate to have him speak to us.
Here's more on Joseph: Irish Olympian Joseph Murphy, 42, developed his bold cross-country style while catch-riding with the Westmeath Fox Hounds, later earning his jockey license and winning point-to-point races. It was only when he met Danish event rider Dot Love that he started eventing. Joseph competed in his first three-day event in 2003 when he was 27 and made it to his first CCI4* eight years later in 2011. Since then, he has completed more than 20 four-stars with multiple top-15 finishes at Badminton, Burghley, Luhmühlen and Pau. Joseph has represented Ireland at four European Championships, the 2012 London Olympics and the 2014 World Equestrian Games. Now based in County Down, in Northern Ireland, with his wife, Jill, and daughter, Daisy, Joseph has been named Ireland’s leading rider for the past five years.
